My Nintendo Wii Fitness Age: 35

Just so I can get some baseline measurements before I start the P90X, I decided to test my "Wii Fitness Age" on the Nintendo Wii. This is an option on the Wii Sports game that comes with the Wii when you buy it.

Now, I am pretty good at the Wii. I can rock me some Guitar Hero and have a pretty wicked forehand smash on the tennis game. Since I am not a newbie to the Wii I figured that this would be an accurate gauge and the findings would not be skewed because I did not have the basic game play knowledge.

Here is the screen shot (sorry about light reflection on bottom):

I am pretty happy with this result. My balance and speed were pretty good. My stamina, not so much. The game had me hitting a baseball in play by swinging 30 times very quickly. At one point I was 18 of 19 on balls in play. I finished 21 of 30. My Stamina needs some work!

Anyways, this was fun and at the end of 90 days I will play this again and see how or if my "Wii Fitness Age" improves.

Sunday, September 7th will be the start date

I was able to view my tracking info from UPS and it looks like the P90X will be delivered on Friday the 5th. Hopefully, Hurricane Gustov fizzles out a little over the next couple of days and doesn't create anymore delays.

That will give me Saturday to get the pull-up bar mounted in a doorway and make my gameroom into a workout room. I will post pictures when everything is complete.

Mike, my buddy in Maryland, is also going to start on Sunday. We are thinking we will be able to push eachother if we start at the same time. And if one of us starts to slack the verbal abuse from the other will be awesome! Here is his site: Mike

I am a little disappointed it is taking so long to arrive but with Monday being a holiday I should have expected shipping delays.

I went to GNC today and picked up SuperPump 250 (pre-workout drink) and the Wheybolic Extreme 60 (post-workout drink). From everything I have read these seem to really enhance your workout and recovery. Since I have decided to do this I might as well do it 100%.

Over the next couple of days I am going to post my pre-P90X pictures and my Wii Sports Fit Age. That should be fun!

Still waiting...

My buddy Mike got an email that his P90X has shipped. Even though I ordered my P90X a day before Mike I have yet to receive that fun little email. When he told me about the email I immediately checked my Gmail expecting to see a similar message ... and nothing ... I was a little jealous.

Anyways, I have decided I am going to eat and drink this holiday weekend like a champ. I am going to smoke up a bunch of ribs and sausage while consuming large amounts of beer. I have convinced myself that the results will be more impressive in the end if I start pre-day 1 a little fatter than I am now! So, this will be my last couple of days of defiling my body and I am looking forward to it.

Cheers

A Detailed Chronical of "P90X"

My name is Jeff. I am a 32 year old male who lives in Kingwood Texas, a northern suburb of Houston. I cannot eat or drink like I used to and I am beginning to get quite "soft" around the mid-section. This is starting to bother me.

See, here is the thing. My wife constantly asks my why I do not just go to the gym? I have a membership? She goes all the time? I really do not have a good answer for her. No one I know would describe me as lazy, but for some reason I hate going to the gym. Possibly because my job as a sales rep has me driving 40-45K miles a year and the last thing I want to do when I get home is get in my car again and drive to the gym. Maybe that is just an excuse, who knows, but I know I hate going to the gym.

So, last night I was sitting on my couch watching Hillary Clinton pretend she was a friend and supporter of Obama's and I got bored watching that crapfest and started flipping channels. I came across the infomercial for "P90X" - which I was now viewing for like the 50th time and thought to myself, "What the hell, lets get off my ass and do this!".

So, $159 later I am now going to be part of the new fitness revolution that is sweeping the nation. Once I receive the "P90X" in the mail - which should be on the 2nd or 3rd of September - I am going to blog about it daily (for 90 days) and track the results. I will post before and after pictures and I will jot something down after each workout. I also have a couple of days when I am traveling for work so we will see how this sucker performs on the road.

I wish I could say I was doing this so the merits of the "P90X" product could be measured and weighted. Or that I am helping the American consumer make an informed buying decision. But, the truth of the matter is that I am doing this for purely selfish reasons. My psychological make-up is such that I don't handle failure well. So, if I have something in the blogoshpere that others maybe reading and I do not update it daily than in my competitve mind that would be a failure.

This blog will be my Carrot.
