Week One, Day Two: 1 Hour Trainer Ride

This is going to be a long 20-weeks of training. Got up early this morning and hit the trainer for an hour. I was starving so a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter and a coffee was needed before I began. It was either eat breakfast or have a GU gel because I needed some energy.

I have discovered that the trainer is mind-numbingly boring. I watched some Tivo'd shows while riding but it was still difficult. And the trainer is freaking hard. It seems harder than actual biking outdoors. Maybe because the scenery doesn't change?

Anyways, I got a solid hour in and feel great! I was getting ready to go do the scheduled 30 minute run but Annie has as run scheduled for tomorrow morning so I decided to do the run with her then.

So Tomorrow is a 30 minute run and then in the evening a 30 minute swim!

Thanks for Reading,

Jeff

  1. I totally agree... the trainer can get boring. I have be very engaged with program I am watching on TV to get me through a session. A solid hour is great.

  2. I have a stationary bike that has features that change resistance, but even that gets old after a while. There has to be something on the tube in order for me to hang with it longer than 20-minutes. You might try intervals on your trainer to give it some freshness and variety...

  3. The trainer is boring ...no doubt. The training program I ave gives some recommended interval workouts once I get a few weeks in. I also have DVD called "Race Day" ...it came with the training. i haven't watched it yet but from the description is says it is supposed to simulate a race and you put it on the tv and just follow along. Going to have to try it soon.

I downloaded a bunch of movies from the Video on Demand yesterday. Those should help.

I watched "Terminator: Salvation" --- and I am a big fan of the Terminator -- which is why I was upset because this movie was absolute crap! Might have to write a negative review!

  4. Football games are my favorite to get me through training.
