Rest/Sick Day + Arch Molds

Hello everyone!
Today was a scheduled Cross Training Day (XD). Yesterday I got hit with some serious Flu-like symptoms and it carried on through today. My fever broke and I am able to hold down some food so I got that going for me.

I run with Asics Cumulus 11 Running Shoes. They have been very good to me and my joints. I am estimating that I have about 200 or so miles on them and they are getting close to being replaced. Well, those suckers are like $129 and before I dropped the cash I wanted to see what the market was for some quality inserts to extend the life on my shoes. So I checked around on some message boards and heard of a little product called Archmolds.

These inserts are a little different from your garden variety inserts. They are heat-molded! You stick them into the oven for 2 minutes and then take a step and they form to your feet. I have been running with these for about a week now and I absolutely love them. It is one of those where-have-you-been-my-entire-life products. During my runs I fill like I am running on little pillows and afterwards my knees and legs fill like I did not even run. I have even been taking the inserts out of my Asics and putting them in all my other shoes. These things are great!

Tomorrow is supposed to be my normal rest day but since I missed today then I will get my swimming in tomorrow, assuming I can physically do that!

Thanks for Reading,

Jeff

  1. Archmolds, huh? Hmmmm....I will definitely check them out. Part of my cross-training is going to incorporate running, but my ankles KILL me after about a mile or two. Perhaps these will alleviate or eliminate that. Thanks for the tip.

I hope you're feeling better soon. With all the travelling you do, its hard to avoid the germs. The flu is sweeping through my office and its finally made it around to my wing. Time isn't on my side!

  2. Steve, Seriously the archmolds are awesome. Got annie some and she loves them too!

This flu thing sucks ass. I don't get sick very often but when I do it is usually bad. I am feeling much better today. I have a conference call in about 15 minutes and then after that I am going to go to the gym and get some swimming in!

  3. Hey Jeff,

Glad to hear you're getting a little better! And I use Asics too! I love them and I always have two pairs on hand: a light colored one and a black one! Depending on how I'm feeling that workout. :)

Just wanted to let you know that I'm running an exercise challenge this weekend and you're workouts could really help it out. Check out my most recent post. I need to collect 365 miles worth of exercise this weekend.

    Getter better first though!

  4. Wow, I am going to look these up. I use custom made orthotics right now. However, I could use more cushion. Thanks for the info.
