Here is a recap of Week 5:

Planned Training:
Swim - 2 hrs
Bike - 3 hrs 30 mins
Run - 2 hrs
Total Planned - 7 hrs 30 mins

Actual Training:
Swim - 2 hrs 5 mins (5000 Meters)
Bike - 3 hrs 38 mins (62.40 Miles)
Run -  2 hrs 3 mins (13.59 Miles)
Total Actual - 7 hrs 46 mins

Once again not a bas training week.  I was able to stick to the plan and get in all of my scheduled workouts.

Today I did an early 45 minute/2000M swim.  My swim felt great on Friday and I thought I had a legitimate break through.  Well, today it just did not carry over.  I labored for the entire 2000 M - wu 5x50/2x750/cd 1x250.  But I was able to still get in the volume and will be better for it.

While watching Jack Bauer this evening I jumped on the QR and the indoor trainer for 45 minutes. ***24 Spoiler Upcoming - skip paragraph if haven't seen yet **** So far I am not feeling this season of 24.  Jack is awesome but the new CTU director, Freddie Prinze, and Renee Walker are all annoying me and the story line with the blonde CTU chick is just awful.  And then they bring in Russian arm dealers AND want us to believe Renee Walker was under cover six years ago with these Russian Arm Dealers .... seriously?  She looks more like a crazy ex-girlfriend than a crazy, rouge former FBI agent..  I am done. Back to regular scheduled programming ...

I gave this ride a pretty hard effort and really got the heart rate going.  Not sure what it was going to because I forgot my HR strap but I was working hard.  I really enjoy riding my trainer, but am going to try and get an outdoor ride in this weekend!  Our weather has turned and the last two days have been in the low 60's and this weekend is supposed to be in the low 70's so I am excited to bike and run outside.

Tomorrow is a 30 minute run and another 1 hour bike and the MA special election.  Very excited to see the results of this sucker.  Hopefully, the MA voters will voice the anger of the nation and vote for Scott Brown!

Thanks for Reading,

  1. Jeff,
Not being American, and not being in America, can I ask, why the anger? Have taxes increased? Are Americans angry at Obama? Bush? Wall Street? The media? Where's the focus?
BTW Rupert Murdoch will see America burn if he thinks it will make him some more money. He's Australian!
I'm really impressed with the distances you and your wife run, and I have totally agreed with you on all your movie reviews. 500 days of Summer, mate. Good movie.
Also, do you know how lucky yo are with the pool? My local pool is always chock full of ancient Japanese people walking laps, which creates like a whirlpool. It blows!
    Cheers, Jim.
You and Fitbomb are my daily read.

  2. MMLM...your whirlpool description is awesome. Thanks for the laugh! I can actually picture that!

Jeffe, my son and wife are devoted "24" viewers and both agree the new CTU director is lame. But I think the story line about the blond girl and her mate is going to develop into something huge. I'm not sure the writers even know where it'll go, but its there for the taking. I even said yesterday he'll end up saving her life in some future episode...he's the "bad" guy now...and has the viewers hating him, which is the perfect set-up for the twist.

Fitness wise, you planned your work and worked your plan. Good going dude!

  3. MMLM, The anger is pretty much directed at all of the issues you mentioned. The government is spending like a bunch of drunken sailors on shore leave, the nationalized health care plan is going to bankrupt the country, an din the end it is all going to lead to inflation and increase taxation. Americans really believe in our freedom and with each bill the Obama/Congress pass they take more and more of that freedom.

Basically the Gov't is becoming too involved in our day-to-day lives and Americans are PO'd. We neither need nor want them making all of our decisions.

  4. Steve, I hope that story line develops into something.

  5. Diesel -- it is great right now. After doing races in 23 and 24 degrees the 60;s and 70;s are very welcome.

  6. Super training week. I am in awe! All I can do is watch from the P90X sidelines. If I start training for a triathlon, I will be starting from scratch just like I did last April. The 5k's will be killing me!

I missed 24 because of the trip. I need to catch up on the internet. I will have to see what all the commotion is about.
